Took's Fork

To the north of Eddenborough the Tradesmans Way splits. At this intersection stands a great wooden fork with a small plaque inscribed with a dedication

In loving Memory to our great friend Took,

He had no end of joy at his mental image of literally seeing a fork at the fork in the road. On a dare he unhitched his horse teams from the center yolk, then, riding full speed toward the fork he urged each team toward a different path. He said he was hoping it would tear the wagon in two. Unfortunately, the horses tore free sending the wagon careening uncontrollably into the ravine beyond. In the end, Took was crushed by the wagon. We’re sorry buddy. We love you and we’ll miss you.

Your Foolish Friends.
